Ginger and Eric V's 1991 FJ80

ginericfj80@yahoo.com

Eric originally sold this 80 to his father in 1996, 110,000 miles later it came back to him. Currently it is powered by the stock 155 hp 3FE, but a turbo diesel conversion is in the future for this 80. It will basically be given one of the following Engines: an ISUZU NPR 4 cylinder, a 6.5 V8 Chevy, or a Detroit 680 4 cylinder, and the possibility of a non diesel Toyota I Force V8 from a Tundra. It sits on 35x12.50 BFG MT KMs on 15x8 Eagle 589s. The suspension has been raised 3.5" thanks to OME J Springs and L shocks. Custom bumpers and sliders are also in the near future. Eric hopes to locate a 93-97 rear fullfloater axle with the Toyota locker to swap in. Eventually, the mild silver/gray Toyota paint will be replaced with something more aggressive to complement the array of modifications. The total buildup is scheduled for 3 years.

Eric and Ginger are charter members of NW Cruisers and renewed membership with the Tornado Alley Cruisers www.tornadoalleycruisers.com for another year. Eric is the Executive Vice President of the TLCA. Basically, that fancy title means that he gets to go to TLCA BOD meetings and is in charge of making sure the events get their paperwork and insurance forms for sanctioning.

Eric's Cruiser Addiction is survived by his wife, Ginger, his son, Gabe, and two dogs, Brutus and Tossi. His younger brother drives a V8 powered FJ40 and his father drives an all Toyota FZJ80

Gabe's Cruiser is probably the most unique Cruiser in the family. It is a 1992 80 series but it comes from the land down under. It is powered by Toyota's 1HD-T, which is a turbo diesel Inline 6 Lasre engine. It is 24 Volt. It sports an ARB bullbar, the factory rear tire carrier, and an ARB rear bumper. Up top extra gear is hauled on the ARB roofrack with IPF lights providing plenty of light after the sun goes down. His suspension is rather unique as he has gone with OME J springs with Outback spacers and arms up front. In the rear, he went with a 60 series HD Old Man Emu Kit inverted in a semi elliptical fashion with OME J springs as helpers. Since Gabe has mom and dad's unlimited budget he decided the OME LTR shocks would make his Cruiser ride as smooth as his backside. He is running Rockstomper 17" beadlocks with 37" Super Swampers. To aide the big rubber in finding traction in the Idaho desert, he went with ARB air lockers in both the front and rear. His rig also sports the Oasis On Board Air System which aids in airing up the big tires as well as powering his ARB prototype air locked diaper pail. Just like dad, he runs a Never Never Safari Co. banner on the windshield. Future mods include a Ramsey Patriot 15,000 lb winch and TLC Farms slider steps.
